For a Muslim, having
unique Islamic names for boys and girls can be of the most important in his or
her life. Because we are proud to be Muslim, having unique Islamic names is
important. But how are you going to do it?
There are many
different approaches to this and it all depends on the individual person who is
going to be receiving the name. It's pretty much the same thing with girls
though. This just depends on the culture of the mother and father, to whom the
child will be in charge of choosing his or her name.
In this case there are
many different approaches. For example, if the parents were Hindus or Muslims
from a Muslim background, the Indian names might be suitable while the European
and American names would probably be more appropriate. The Arab names are
usually a little harder to pronounce and not so popular at the present time.
But there are ways to
make it so the children can have some kind of unique
Islamic names. How do you do that? Is it through name planning? Is it
through the family member of the child having the choice to choose the name
himself or herself?
And then there is the
special one-on-one process of getting the name through the cultural circle and
making it official. Some cultures don't even recognize common names but many
cultures respect and appreciate the fact that you have chosen a unique name for
your child.
Another nice approach
that has been taken in some countries is the use of a script where the name is
spelled differently from the usual way and written in the language it is pronounced.
With that script the name can be handled as a religious issue. And then there
is the English, Hindi, and Arabic script where the name is read as it is
spelled and pronounced.
So many different ways
and approaches have been used for people to have unique Islamic names for boys
and girls. It is still a little difficult for the mother or father to get the
name of their choice approved because there are many languages involved and
there is the cultural issue involved. There is no one best solution.
All you can do is to
find something that fits in your needs for your child to have unique Islamic
names. And remember if you don't make it special, you won't have the parents
taking pride in your choice.
